Getting to Know Me

Now that you've gotten to know my family and I just a little bit better, I want you guys to get to know me even more! So I asked around and had people ask me any questions they could think of, doesn't matter what kind of question it is. Here we go!

What made you get into blogging? I actually started my blog right after Trevor and I got married. I always wanted a blog and it was a way to keep my family and friends updated about my life.
What's a nickname of yours? Well I have a couple of nicknames that have just stuck, but growing up a favorite nickname of mine was M&M. Now a days, I get called emmers or jammers!
Where are you from? I'm from a town called Bluffdale, and that's in Utah. If you've never heard of Bluffdale, or have no idea where it is, just look for the state prison and you're there! Haha.
What's your favorite food? My all time favorite food is pizza! I could literally eat pizza every day. That's the one food I would choose, if I had to live off of one food for the rest of my life.
What are your hobbies? I feel like my hobbies have changed now that I'm 23 years old, but I would have to say my hobbies are crafting, reading, and dancing around with my headphones in.
What's your favorite kind of movie? I'll watch anything, but my favorite kind of movie is the comedy romance kind of movies! I mean who doesn't love romance with some comedy in it?!

How many people are in your family? I get this question all the time, and whenever I say the number, people don't believe me! Ha, so here it goes. There are a total of 30 kids (yes, you read that right!) in my family. I'll break it down for you! My mom and dad together have 10 kids, I'm number 9 out of the 10. Then my mom and step dad have 20 together, which makes a total of 30 kids for my mom. Most of us are adopted, that's why there's so many!
What's your favorite kind of music? I listen to everything, but my favorite would have to be country! I just love country and can't ever get enough.
What's your favorite color? Blue! It's always been blue.
When is your birthday? My birthday is October 21st and I was born in the year of 92!
What matters most to me? My little family matters the most to me. I care so much about my husband and son.
What's your favorite holiday? Christmas! I love the season and that time of year.

What was your first job? My first real job was a lifeguard at Seven Peaks Waterpark!
Where did you meet your husband? Haha I get this question all the time. We tell people we met at the 7-11, but we really met on a dating app called Tinder! Ha, it was love at first right swipe.
What is one of your pet peeves? One of my biggest pet peeves is when I'm talking to someone, and they're not paying attention because their phone is in their face.
What is your favorite snack? I am completely obsessed with eating popcorn!
What is your least favorite chore? I absolutely HATE doing the dishes!
Are you a morning person or a night person? I am definitely a night person. I hate waking up in the morning! But if I could sleep all day, I totally would.

What is your favorite fruit? Ok, don't kill me for my answer, but I hate fruit.
If you could invite 3 famous people to dinner, who would you invite? Tough question, but lets see! My first person would be Jennifer Aniston, I love her and am always watching FRIENDS and the movies she's in. My second person would be Zac Efron, he's good looking and he was on high school musical! Haha. My third person would be Adam Levine, I'd love to sing with him and he's a very kind man.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be? I would travel to American Samoa. I'd love to go and see where I came from and learn more about my heritage.
What was your first car? Oh man, my first car was a 95 Ford Taurus and I had it for two years! I made so many memories in that car, I actually miss it. Haha.
Favorite book? So I don't have one favorite book, but I do have a favorite series! Hands down, all time favorite book series is the Harry Potter series. Grew up on the series and I still read them now! I am obsessed with Harry Potter.
Favorite thing to cook? Ha! I actually don't cook, Trevor's the cook in our family, but I'm actually getting better and starting to cook for my little family.

What did you want to be growing up? I always wanted to be an elementary school teacher.
What is your guilty pleasure? Watching reality shows, like Keeping Up with the Kardashians! Haha shows like that always entertain me.
Favorite ice cream flavor? So this depends on where I'm getting ice cream from. Like if I get ice cream from Cold Stone, I always get the birthday cake remix! That's my all time favorite from them. But if it's from the grocery store, I always get Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream.
What is one of your greatest achievements? That's a good question, because I have a couple different answers, but my biggest one would be my little family. I never thought I'd find the perfect man for me and to have a family of my own.
What super hero power do you wish you had? I would love to be able to read peoples minds.
What is your favorite dessert? Cheesecake! I love cheesecake and am always asking Trevor if I can buy some.

What's something that people don't know about you? My real name is suppose to be Amy, and not Emi. My birth mom and grandparents wanted the name Amy, but when they wrote it on my birth certificate, it came out as Emi.
What's your favorite restaurant? I actually have 2! Olive Garden and Cafe Rio. My absolute favs.
What's your favorite way to waste time? Watching Netflix or sticking my headphones in and having a dance party for one!
Best date you've ever been on. My all time favorite date I've ever been on would be when I was dating Trevor! His uncle lives up in Bear Lake in Utah. We both took the whole weekend off from work and went up there. It was so much fun! We went boating, off roading, swimming, and just relaxed. One of my favorite dates up to this day!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In ten years, I see myself with more than one kid and actually doing what I'm going to school for, which is cosmetology!
If you had a day to do whatever you wanted to do, what would you do? That's easy, I'd go out and have a me day. I'd go shopping and get a pedicure. You know, all the fun stuff girls like to do!

Now you guys know me a little bit more! I loved getting all of the questions I got and thanks for asking them.

Until next time,

XoXo
Emi

The Simpson Life

If you follow me on my social media accounts, specifically Instagram, than you may have noticed that I use the hashtag, #thesimpsonlife. Ever since Trevor and I have been married, I have always called our life together, the Simpson life.

So welcome to The Simpson Life! As you can see my blog got a HUGE makeover and I absolutely love it! All thanks to Rylee Blake Designs! She did such an amazing job on redoing my blog that I am recommending her to everyone and anyone. So if you have a blog and you want it redone, definitely check her out on Etsy! You won't be disappointed.

Since my blog got a makeover, I might as well update you guys on some exciting things that are happening for my little family!

This is Lower Monumental Dam, located on the Snake River, in Kahlotus WA. Trevor was officially offered a job to work there, and starts July 11th! We can't wait for this amazing opportunity and I know he will do great out there. Bentley and I are so proud of him. I also know his dad is proud of him as well, and is looking down at him and saying, "That's my boy."

Trevor's dad Jeff, worked at the dam for many years as one of the operators. It definitely brings back some good memories for Trevor and his mom.

Since we've been married, we have moved so many times, it's ridiculous. Trevor has always been away in a different city/state for work, and has worked crazy hours so we hardly get to see him. Now with this new job, that's all going to change and we can't wait! We finally get to settle down in Trevor's home town of Connell, WA. Bentley and I get Trevor home every night, we are just so excited! It'll be so nice to get our little family into a schedule and a routine.

Have you ever heard of Paul Mitchell hair school?! Well, I'm super excited to say that I'm starting cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell the school Richland in the fall! I am seriously so excited. I wouldn't have taken this big step without the help of Carly Foster.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Carly posted  on her blog about how she had this feeling that BYU-I just wasn't for her anymore, and after a ton of praying to the Lord and talking with her husband, she took a leap of faith and started cosmetology school down in Rexburg this past week! I'm so glad she posted that post and I read it, because it motivated me and pushed me in the right direction! I can't thank her enough!

So here's my quick story about choosing to pursue my dreams of cosmetology school! Ever since I was in the first grade, I've always wanted to be a school teacher. I wanted to go to college and study elementary education. Well, after I graduated high school, I moved down to Tucson, AZ and lived with my dad and started college down there. After only one semester it just wasn't for me. I have always had cosmetology on my mind, but never talked to anyone about it, because I was afraid of what they were going to say. After reading Carly's blog post, I was more motivated and determined than I've ever been before about going to school. I asked my mother in law what she thought about it, and she was super supportive and thinks it would be really good for me! I talked to Trevor about it and he said I could go tour the campus and do the interview.

This past Tuesday I went and did my tour and interview and I couldn't stop smiling. I had such a strong feeling that this is where I'm meant to be! It all just felt so right. September needs to come faster, because I can't wait to pursue my dreams and goals. I'm also so grateful for the support of my husband and mother in law! In the end, I will be able to help my little family and it just puts a huge smile on my face.

Bentley has been super grumpy the past week, must be going through a growth spurt or something, because I'm going insane! But even when he's grumpy, he always manages to put a smile on my face and his.

With the few new exciting things happening for our little family, I know Bentley will be such a champ through it all. Trevor and I love him so much and he is our whole world.

Until next time!

Xoxo,
Emi

Just the Two of Us, Plus Father's Day

It's not very often that Trevor and I get time together, just the two of us, without Bentley for longer than a couple of hours. Well, the weekend of the 10th to the 12th, we finally got to have some time together, just the two of us! No Bentley, no distractions, no one else, just quality time as husband and wife.

I was having a very off week and just needed a break from Bentley and wanted to go spend a night out in Wenatchee with Trev. So I asked my mother in law if she would watch Bentley after she got home from work, so I could go, but she had already committed to go on splits with the sister missionaries. She suggested that I go up on Friday and spend the whole weekend, while she would watch Bentley. I agreed and made her promise not to tell Trev, because it's going to be a surprise!

Well, Trevor and I are best known for ruining surprises we have for each other! I ended up telling him and was counting down the days until I got to go out and be with him.

As much as I love having time with just Trevor and I, we both always end up missing Bentley. Bentley knew I was leaving and tried to escape out the front door, but couldn't because he hasn't figured out how to unlock it yet!

Trevor and I had so much fun being together! We went up to Leavenworth and played mini-golf, as well as explored the little shops they have downtown and did some shopping! We also ate out a lot and just relaxed at the hotel. We even went and saw a movie!

Whenever we get time together with just the two of us, we always talk about Bentley. He is our whole world and Trevor always convinces me to go back to his mom's house so he can see him. Well that weekend I promised myself I wasn't going to give in, but sadly I did. Haha! It was worth it though, I love seeing Trevor and Bentley together.

While we had our little weekend getaway, my awesome mother in law watched Bentley for us all weekend. Bentley loves his Grammy Simpson, there is no one else like her.

Trevor's time at home was ending, and I had to drive him back to Wenatchee. We planned on going to a restaurant to grab some food, than I'd head back home to Connell. Well, things didn't quite happen like that since I got a really bad bladder infection. I was in so much pain! Ever since I've had Bentley, I can't stop getting kidney and bladder infections.

I ended up staying the night, and we got up at 2:00 am so Trevor could drive me back to Connell, so he could make it back to work in Wenatchee on time. I was so tired and so angry that he wouldn't let me sleep at the hotel, and we got delayed a couple of times on the road. We finally made it home to Connell and Trevor drove to Tri-Cities to get my medicine. I don't know how I got so lucky to call him mine, but I did. He does so much for Bentley and I, it's unbelievable.

6/19/2016 was Trevor's second Father's Day! We enjoyed it together as a little family. We made it simple and got him some gifts! A couple of ties, a card and some candy. We then drove around town and went down to the dam and played at the park. It's so nice when we get to go out and do family stuff, even if we have to skip out on church to do it! Don't worry, we'll be going to church next Sunday to make up for it!

Bentley loves Trevor so much! I love seeing them play together and interacting with one another. They only get to see each other once a week, because Trevor's working out in Wenatchee right now. By that's all going to change in just a couple of weeks! Soon we get to have Trevor home every single day, and we can't wait.

Trevor is a very hardworking man, always doing what's best for our little family, and loves Bentley and I more than anything in this world! We are so lucky we get to call him ours.

My dad is currently in China for his job, but yesterday at 7:30 PST it was still Father's Day, so I tried calling him to see if I could get a hold of him. I did! He answered! This is how our conversation went:
Dad: Hello dear darling.
Me: Hi dad! It's still Father's Day here in America, so I just called you to wish you a happy Father's Day!
Dad: Congratulations darling!!! That's wonderful!
Me: Why are you telling me congratulations?! It's Father's Day, we're celebrating you!
Dad: Oh haha, well thank you!
Me: Ok weirdo, glad you answered!
Dad: Thanks Emi, love you.
Me: Love you too dad.

If you know my dad, and you know me than you know that I have a really close relationship with him. He has raised ten kids, worked hard at his different jobs, loves his grandkids more than his kids, and always makes time for all of us.

No matter how old I get he's always just a phone call away, my go to for any advice, my should to cry on, the greatest grandpa to Bentley and my nieces and nephews, and the greatest dad to his ten kids.

Father's Day isn't about the gifts, it's about celebrating the men in our lives who are amazing fathers. I love Trevor and my dad so much and I'm so glad Bentley looks up to them and will continue to while he grows up.

Until next time!

Xoxo, Emi
